“The provisions of the 2022 Declaration of Alliance are being successfully implemented. Our countries act as allies, friends, close partners, and neighbors,” Aliyev said, noting the positive cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the energy and transportation sectors, as well as in the political sphere.

“In both the political and economic spheres, we see very positive dynamics, good figures,” he said, adding that he and Putin had thoroughly analyzed the situation in the oil and gas sector.

“We are actively working in this direction, and I am confident that we will continue to coordinate our activities,” he affirmed.

Azerbaijan has exported approximately 6.4 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe between January and June 2024, representing a 12.3 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year. According to Aliyev, the close cooperation between Baku and Moscow also contributes to stability and security in the South Caucasus.

For his part, Putin indicated that Russia is ready to contribute to the normalization between Azerbaijan and Armenia based on the tripartite document signed in 2020 by the leaders of the three countries, which ended the war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Previously, the Union of Armenians of Russia had appealed to the Kremlin chief to address during the negotiations the issue of dozens of Armenians held by Azerbaijan after the Nagorno-Karabakh war, including former leaders of the separatist enclave.
